Ibermuseums Museological Heritage Fund

Since its creation, Ibermuseos acts in the preservation of the assets of our region, investing resources in the preservation and recovery of the museological heritage.

Since 2019, the resources of the Fund have been divided into two categories: the first, aimed at preventive actions, supports the diagnosis and intervention plans; and the second supports technical assistance actions and timely intervention in emergency situations.

Through this project, Ibermuseums is recognizing that the damages that affect the collections of museums of any city in the Ibero-American region represent a detriment to the cultural heritage of the region and of all humanity, which is why it is essential that countries articulate to respond to such damages.

Each year, the Program makes the Ibermuseums Museological Heritage Fund available to the museological institutions of all Ibero-American countries.

Get to know the supported institutions:

Ecuador/2016: The Fund provided resources to help an infrastructure survey of four museums that are reserves of archaeological and artistic cultural heritage in the provinces of Manabí and southern Esmeraldas, both areas affected by a strong earthquake.

Brazil/2016: The Fund was granted to support the recovery of the Museum of Missions, affected by a strong storm. A specialist consultancy was hired to prepare a damage diagnosis and a recovery project for the affected works.
