We are pleased to announce the results of the Call for Grants to participate in the 12th Ibero-American Museums Meeting: Shared Heritage, Common Futures, which will take place in September 2026 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The call attracted significant interest from the Ibero-American museum community. More than 200 proposals were submitted by professionals, students and researchers from 17 countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Honduras, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay.

The quality of the proposals received reflects the dynamism of the Ibero-American museum sector and the commitment of professionals and institutions to contemporary debates on the social role of museums, community participation, sustainability and the construction of common futures. We sincerely thank all the individuals and institutions who dedicated their time to sharing valuable experiences, research and reflections through this call.

The selection process was carried out by an Evaluation Committee composed of the Ibermuseums Technical Unit and representatives from Uruguay and the Dominican Republic. The proposals were assessed according to criteria including their relevance to the thematic axis and the objectives of the Meeting, their technical and methodological quality, their potential contribution to the event’s discussions, the innovative nature of the proposal, the originality of the experience presented, and the overall balance of the programme, while seeking to reflect the territorial, institutional and thematic diversity of Ibero-America.

As a result of this process, nine proposals were selected, one for each modality and thematic axis included in the Meeting’s programme. A reserve list was also established and may be activated in the event of withdrawal or inability to participate by any of the selected participants.

Read the official selection report.

The selected participants will be contacted directly by the Ibermuseums Programme to complete the procedures related to the grant award and their participation in the Meeting.

The Organising Committee of the 12th Ibero-American Museums Meeting would like to thank everyone who took part in this call and congratulate those whose proposals were selected. Every application received demonstrates the richness, diversity and innovative capacity of Ibero-American museums, reaffirming the value of regional cooperation and the role of museums as spaces for dialogue, participation and social transformation.

We look forward to seeing you soon at the 12th Ibero-American Museums Meeting!
