Educational programs are one of the most important areas in which museums operate around the world. Therefore, this action has become one of the main focus areas of the Ibermuseums Program, fostering and recognizing the educational capacity of museums and cultural heritage as a strategy for transforming social reality.

The main project in this line of action is the Ibermuseums Education Award. The project has honoured the most diverse and courageous projects developed by public, private or mixed museum education teams in Ibero-America.

In 2018, for example, 192 entries were received for the Ibermuseums Education Prize – 30% more than in the 2017 edition – showcasing a significant number of projects that reflect all the creativity and vigor of the educational areas of museums, especially in Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Spain, Mexico, Peru, Portugal and Uruguay.
